I have now completed my first week at the College of the Resurrection, arriving on Monday.
The journey up was uneventful and I was feeling refreshed having spent some time at home in Devon before I started; getting to spend some quality time with my family.
The week started with an introductory tea and cake (but someone forgot the cake!!) before Evensong with the Community at 6pm, followed by dinner and drinks in the bar – mindful that Mattins was at 7.30am the following morning.
As is to be expected at this time things are different and have changed since I visited at the start of March. I am still getting used to worshipping with the Community. Whilst it is a joy that we are able to join and worship together we are seated further away and no singing is allowed – a challenge when the majority of the service is sung. With our own College Community however, joining in the morning for Mattins and Mass, singing is allowed and I have found this start to the day spiritually nourishing and prayerful.
This last week as been spent trying to take in as much information as possible and I was grateful that there was plenty of space in the first couple of days to be able to unpack. I may spend the next few weeks moving stuff around until I am completely happy (I have some photos and frames on the way) but for now everything is in a place or has a place planned for it.
This next week will see the start of actual study, all we did this week was look briefly at the modules for this year and choose whether or not to take NT Greek.
So for now, I will leave it there – most importantly because the bar opens in 20 minutes!!!!
